The Labour Party has hailed Alex Otti as its “pride,” commending his leadership and 2023 electoral victory in a birthday tribute issued in Abuja on Wednesday.
Senator Nenadi Usman, the party’s Interim National Chairman, praised Otti for his transformative leadership, noting how he has redefined governance in Abia State in less than three years. She described him as a hands-on leader whose approach has made governance appear straightforward, even in areas where his predecessors struggled.
“Your Excellency, as you celebrate your birthday today, I pray that God continues to bless you with wisdom to steer the affairs of Abians, where in under three years, you have set new standards of leadership; and in the Labour Party, where you remain our guiding light,” Usman said.
She added, “With clear vision and determination, you have shown that governance can be purposeful and transformative. Your leadership style is a reflection of commitment, focus, and service to the people.”
Highlighting the broader significance of Otti’s leadership, Usman said, “As Nigeria gradually moves toward another election season, my fervent prayer is that Abians will have the opportunity to renew the mandate they entrusted to you, having witnessed your uncommon leadership. You remain the pride of the Labour Party’s 2023 election victory, and I am confident that the people of Abia are noticing your people-centered approach to governance.”
Concluding the tribute, Usman extended warm wishes on behalf of her family and the party’s leadership and members: “We wish you many more happy returns, Your Excellency.”
Born on February 18, 1965, Otti is a renowned economist and veteran banker. Before his entry into politics, he served as the Group Managing Director of Diamond Bank PLC, where he transformed the institution into one of Nigeria’s top tier-1 banks, earning widespread recognition for his visionary leadership and financial acumen.
