Re-elected Oyebanji thanks Ekiti voters, vows to justify confidence

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed appreciation to the people of the state for re-electing him for a second term, pledging to redouble efforts to deliver more dividends of democracy.

Reacting to his victory in the governorship election, Oyebanji said the overwhelming support he received across the state reflected the trust and confidence residents have in his administration.

In a message shared on his X handle on Sunday, the governor described the outcome of the poll as a clear expression of the people's desire for continuity, progress and development.

"The voice of the people has reverberated from every part of our great state, and the message is clear," he stated.

Oyebanji said he was particularly humbled by the widespread support recorded across the state's 16 local government areas, noting that the result underscored the unity of purpose among Ekiti people.

According to him, voters from both urban and rural communities had demonstrated their commitment to sustaining the developmental strides recorded under his administration.

"From our urban centres to our most remote communities, you have spoken with one thunderous voice for continuous development, stability, and a future of endless opportunities," he said.

The governor noted that the renewed mandate would serve as motivation for his administration to work harder in addressing the needs of residents and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every corner of the state.

He stressed that the election outcome should strengthen unity among the people rather than deepen political divisions.

"This mandate means that our work must touch every household even deeper. There are no winners or losers today; there is only one united Ekiti determined to continue its journey of upward mobility," Oyebanji said.

He assured residents that his government would remain focused on inclusive governance and policies aimed at improving the quality of life of the people.

The governor also promised to continue leading with a sense of responsibility, fairness and commitment to public service.

"I pledge to honour this immense trust by continuing to lead with humility, dedication and fairness. Thank you, Ekiti Kete, for making history with us," he added.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Oyebanji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the governorship election after securing 319,224 votes.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Olumayokun Oluyede, came second with 40,533 votes, while Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 12,872 votes.
