Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), the Rivers State Administrator, has approved the constitution of eight new boards in the state, including the Rivers State University Governing Council, to be chaired by former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Okey Wali (SAN).
According to a Special Government Announcement issued on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika, the appointments also cover the boards of key institutions and agencies across the state.
For the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker, was named Chairman, while Prof. Chizindu Alikor was retained as Chief Medical Director.
In the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, former Ikwerre Local Government Chairman and ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, was appointed Chairman, with Wokoma Amakiri as Managing Director.
Other appointments include:
Rivers State Senior Secondary Education Board – Tony Egwurugwu as Chairman.
Rivers State Internal Revenue Service – Israel Egbunefu as Chairman.
Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme – Prof. Princewill Chike as Chairman, with Dr. Vetty Agala retained as Executive Secretary.
Rivers State Microfinance Agency – Prof. Adolphus Toby as Chairman, alongside five appointed members.
The statement noted that the date for the swearing-in of the new board members would be announced later.
