APC govt values crude oil, power over human lives – Fayose

Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government of prioritizing crude oil and electoral victories over the lives and safety of Nigerian citizens.

In a video posted on Facebook Wednesday evening, Fayose condemned the government's handling of the growing insecurity in various parts of the country, particularly in Plateau, Benue, and Borno states, where violent attacks have become increasingly frequent.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria is more concerned about oil and elections—about states they want to win,” he said. “They value oil and political dominance more than they value human lives.”

Fayose decried the silence of the government in the face of continued killings, suggesting that some regions are being ignored because they lack economic or political significance to the ruling party.

“Look at how many people have died—this morning, yesterday, last week. People are being killed daily in Borno and Benue. Plateau is bleeding, but the government acts like it doesn’t exist,” he stated. “Meanwhile, in Rivers State, where no one was harmed, they were quick to declare a state of emergency.”

He accused the federal government of authoritarian tendencies and a disregard for the suffering of ordinary Nigerians.

“The APC government doesn’t care about people. All they care about is crude oil and power. They rule like emperors, ignoring the cries of the people,” Fayose said.

He also condemned what he described as a double standard in the government’s response to crises, noting that emergency measures are only applied when oil installations or politically strategic areas are involved.

“They won’t even mention a state of emergency unless it’s near oil. Let it be close to any oil facility, and you’ll see them act fast. What kind of government is this? It’s like we don’t have a government,” he lamented.
