Arise News Morning Show co-anchor, Rufai Oseni, has alleged a politically motivated attempt to silence him through the takedown of his verified Facebook account, describing the move as “malicious and orchestrated.”
In a post on Monday, Oseni called on his supporters to rise in defence of free speech, claiming that efforts were underway to cripple his social media presence because of his outspoken stance on national issues.
“I need 50,000 people to write to Facebook and tell them that the attempt to bring my page down is politically motivated and malicious,” Oseni wrote. “They want to silence me. Let’s do it.”
The popular broadcaster, known for his fearless commentary on governance, transparency, and civic responsibility, said the alleged attempt to suppress his voice was part of a broader campaign against critical journalism in Nigeria.
Oseni, who commands a large online following, has frequently drawn both admiration and criticism for his strong views on government policies and national politics.
His latest outcry has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many of his followers expressing solidarity and condemning what they described as a clampdown on press freedom and independent voices.
Observers say Oseni’s claim reflects growing concerns about online censorship and coordinated attempts to stifle dissenting opinions, especially from journalists and commentators who challenge political narratives.
