Sanwo-Olu celebrates APC’s clean sweep in Lagos LG elections

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has applauded the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its sweeping victory in Saturday’s local government elections, describing the outcome as a strong vote of confidence from the people of Lagos.

The APC won all 57 chairmanship positions and secured 375 out of 376 councillorship seats across the Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Sanwo-Olu congratulated the party’s leadership and supporters, saying the results demonstrated the electorate’s trust in the APC’s developmental agenda and commitment to grassroots governance.

“This resounding victory is a testament to the enduring confidence Lagosians have in the APC’s leadership and vision for an inclusive, people-focused government,” the governor said.

He extended his congratulations to the newly elected council chairmen and councillors, but cautioned that their victory comes with the weight of responsibility.

“The journey has only just begun. This mandate calls for selfless service, accountability, and dedication to the welfare of every resident, irrespective of political alignment,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor urged the winners to govern with transparency and humility, adding that their performance would be judged by their impact on the lives of people at the grassroots.

He also praised those who contested but lost during the party primaries, acknowledging their contributions and encouraging continued unity within the APC.

“In any democratic process, there will be winners and others. What matters is our shared commitment to party unity and the greater good,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for what he described as a well-organised and peaceful exercise, and appreciated the role of security agencies in ensuring order throughout the process.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, the governor said he looks forward to working closely with the newly elected officials.

“Together, we will drive progress and ensure that no part of Lagos is left behind in our quest to build a Greater Lagos,” he said.
