German Embassy in Abuja Opens Recruitment for Political Affairs Officer

The Embassy of Germany in Abuja has announced a new job opening for a full-time administrative officer to work within its political department, as part of efforts to strengthen its diplomatic and analytical operations in Nigeria.

According to a vacancy notice published on the embassy’s official platform and seen on Monday, the position is for a case worker in the political unit on a 40-hour weekly schedule, with work expected to begin immediately after selection.

The embassy stated that the appointment is initially for one year, but may be extended into a permanent position depending on performance and institutional needs.

The successful applicant will support the embassy’s political reporting and analysis functions, including monitoring developments across print, online, and social media platforms, and maintaining engagement with relevant political stakeholders in Nigeria.

Other responsibilities include assisting in the organisation of political events, conferences, and briefings, as well as conducting research on political, economic, and social developments relevant to Germany’s diplomatic mission in Nigeria.

Applicants are required to possess at least a bachelor’s degree in disciplines such as political science, law, economics, international relations, or other related fields.

The embassy also specified language proficiency requirements, including a minimum of C1-level English and B2-level German competence, reflecting the multilingual nature of the role.

Interested candidates are expected to submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae in German, along with academic certificates and any available recommendation letters, via the official recruitment email address: [email protected].

The deadline for applications is April 30, 2026.

The embassy said shortlisted candidates will participate in a selection process scheduled to take place in Abuja between May and June 2026, adding that only successful applicants will be contacted.

It also noted that it will not acknowledge receipt of applications or cover travel expenses incurred during the interview process.

In line with its diversity policy, the embassy encouraged qualified women to apply for the position, emphasising equal opportunity in its recruitment process.
