Kebbi State is now the focus of an intensified military operation following the abduction of students from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area. The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to pursue the abductors relentlessly and ensure the safe return of the girls.
During an operational tour of the area on Monday, Gen. Shaibu instructed commanders to conduct intelligence-driven operations and maintain continuous day-and-night pressure on the kidnappers. “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” he stressed.
Highlighting the importance of local knowledge, the COAS engaged vigilantes and hunters in the operation, urging them to collaborate closely with military forces to track and neutralize the criminals. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he said.
Earlier, Gen. Shaibu visited the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, to offer condolences and reassure them of the army’s commitment to rescuing the abducted students unharmed.
The COAS called on troops to remain disciplined, professional, and resilient, emphasizing that all actions must comply with rules of engagement while remaining responsive and determined to bring peace back to the region.
