United Kingdom's Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has set out an uncompromising immigration strategy that would see the United Kingdom deport 150,000 illegal migrants every year, in what she called the most radical overhaul of Britain’s border system to date.
Unveiling the proposal in a video message on Sunday, Badenoch said the “Radical Borders Plan” would establish a specialist Removals Force based on the model of America’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“If you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported,” she said, warning that successive governments had failed to get a grip on migration.
The plan goes further than any previous Conservative pledge on border control. It would ban asylum claims from illegal entrants, repeal the Human Rights Act, and withdraw the UK from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
Badenoch insisted that all illegal arrivals would be removed within seven days, with legal and diplomatic hurdles stripped away. Countries that refuse to accept deported nationals, she added, would face visa sanctions.
The Conservative leader also promised to end the use of hotels for asylum seekers, which she described as a “racket” draining public funds. “This will save billions and restore public trust in Britain’s borders,” she said.
Badenoch, who has long advocated a tougher stance on migration, accused Labour of weakness after record small boat crossings and spiralling costs for housing asylum seekers. “Britain needs a credible plan and the backbone to deliver it,” she said.
Her announcement marks a dramatic escalation in the immigration debate, positioning her as the standard-bearer of hardline border enforcement ahead of the next election cycle.
