Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, urging him to sustain his commitment to good governance and the welfare of the people.
Obasanjo gave the charge on Sunday during a surprise congratulatory visit to Adeleke in Osogbo.
The former president, who was accompanied by Otunba Fasawe, prayed for continued success for the governor and urged him to remain focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people,” Obasanjo told Adeleke.
Responding, Adeleke expressed appreciation for the visit, saying he was grateful to God and the people of Osun State for the confidence reposed in him.
The governor pledged to remain dedicated to the service of the people and not disappoint those who contributed to his electoral victory.
“Baba, I thank you for this surprise visit. I promise never to disappoint God, Osun people and all lovers of democracy who made our victory possible,” Adeleke said.
The Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, was also present as Adeleke received the former president.
