Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has confirmed receiving an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), assuring the public that he will honour the agency’s summons.

Malami made the announcement on his Facebook page on Friday, describing himself as a law-abiding citizen committed to transparency and accountability in public service.

“I have been invited by the EFCC, and as a patriotic citizen, I reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation,” he wrote. He added that publicly disclosing the development reflects his long-standing advocacy for openness in governance.

Malami served as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice from 2015 to 2023 under former President Muhammadu Buhari. His tenure included high-profile legal cases, asset recovery efforts, anti-corruption reforms, and disputes over contract approvals and the management of recovered funds, allegations he has consistently denied.

As of Friday, the EFCC has not provided details on the nature or scope of the summons.
