Obi engages foreign envoys from UK, Germany, Canada, France in Abuja

Former Anambra State governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Wednesday met with representatives of several foreign diplomatic missions in Abuja.

The meeting, held in the Federal Capital Territory, involved envoys from the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada and France, highlighting ongoing interactions between the former presidential candidate and members of the diplomatic community.

The development was made public in a post on X by Esther Umoh, who was part of Obi’s media team during the 2023 general elections.

According to her, those in attendance included the British High Commissioner as well as officials from the embassies of Germany, Canada and France.

Details of the discussions were not disclosed, but such meetings typically centre on issues relating to governance, democratic processes and national development.

Obi has remained actively engaged in Nigeria’s political space since the last general election, often speaking on economic reforms, leadership and institutional strengthening.

Observers note that engagements with foreign envoys provide a platform for exchanging views on Nigeria’s political climate and fostering international understanding of the country’s governance landscape.
