President Bola Tinubu has left Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of his participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit in the United Arab Emirates.

The Presidency said Tinubu is attending the summit at the invitation of the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The weeklong event is scheduled to hold in Abu Dhabi in early January.

In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the summit was described as a global platform that convenes leaders from government, business and civil society to advance conversations on sustainable development.

The 2026 edition of ADSW will be held under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go”, with a focus on linking innovation, finance and people to accelerate sustainable growth worldwide.

According to the statement, the President will return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.

Tinubu’s trip comes days after he arrived in Lagos to spend the end-of-year holidays, following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states. During the tour, he visited Borno State, where he commissioned projects executed by the Babagana Zulum-led administration in collaboration with the Federal Government.

The President was received on arrival in Lagos at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, other government officials and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
