Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has debunked speculations that he is planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that he remains firmly rooted in the PDP.

In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, and circulated to the press in Osogbo at the weekend, Adeleke described the defection reports as false and politically motivated.

“The governor remains a dedicated member of the PDP and the recognised leader of the party in Osun State,” the statement read in part.

Governor Adeleke urged the people of Osun to disregard what he called "fake news," noting that his administration is focused on implementing its five-point development agenda and delivering on its promises to the people.

“I assure the good people of Osun that I remain part and parcel of the PDP family. I am not defecting to any party,” Adeleke was quoted as saying.

He further reiterated his commitment to good governance and urged his supporters to stay focused and not be distracted by rumours designed to destabilise the state’s political landscape.
