Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has claimed that Peter Obi of the Labour Party was the rightful winner of the 2023 presidential election.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Tonight on Monday, Lawal said data collected by his team during the polls indicated Obi’s victory, not Bola Tinubu’s. He alleged that some election results were manipulated to favour the current president.

“From the results we monitored and collated from the field, Peter Obi won. Tinubu didn’t win the election. The problem with him is that he thinks I offended him. In reality, he offended me. He is full of himself and believes being president puts him above everyone,” Lawal said.

The former SGF, a known critic of the Tinubu administration, maintained that his findings were based on credible field reports. He also accused the president of arrogance.

“He has an arrogance that defies explanation,” Lawal added, without giving further details on their personal fallout.
