The National Assembly has reopened the office of embattled Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, following months of suspension and a bitter standoff with Senate leadership.
Her office in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing was unsealed on Tuesday morning by the Sergeant-at-Arms, backed by combined security personnel, according to Channels Television.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for six months in March 2025 after protesting the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20. The suspension barred her from all legislative activities until September.
Despite the sanction officially ending earlier this month, she was unable to resume due to legal wrangling and continued resistance from the Senate hierarchy. Only last week, the chamber rejected her notification letter expressing readiness to return.
The unsealing of her office now signals a possible thaw in tensions, clearing the way for Akpoti-Uduaghan to resume full parliamentary duties.
