President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, for appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The nomination was contained in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read during Tuesday’s plenary session.
Udeh, who currently serves as Enugu State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, was described by President Tinubu as a man of “proven integrity and competence.”
“I am pleased to forward to the Senate the nomination of Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), for confirmation as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Tinubu wrote in the letter.
The nomination follows the recent resignation of Uche Nnaji as Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology over a certificate scandal.
Tinubu expressed confidence that the Senate would give the request prompt consideration in keeping with its tradition of supporting the executive on matters of national importance.
After reading the letter, Senate President Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for screening and further legislative action.
