The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has urged Nigerian Christians to use the Easter season to pray for compassionate leaders—those who genuinely empathize with the struggles of the people.
In his Easter message on Saturday, Obi emphasized the importance of having leaders who are sensitive to the consequences of their actions and committed to the welfare of the people.
“Easter is a celebration of the ultimate sacrifice Jesus Christ made for humanity,” Obi stated. “There is no better time to reflect and pray for tender-hearted, caring leaders than now, as we remember Christ—an extraordinary example of compassion and selflessness.”
Obi lamented the current state of the nation, noting that widespread insecurity and numerous challenges reflect a failure of leadership marked by insensitivity and indifference.
He stressed that Nigeria deserves better governance—leaders who can harness the country's abundant natural and human resources for the good of all citizens.
Concluding his message, Obi called on Nigerians, particularly members of the Obidient movement around the world, to remain hopeful and steadfast in the face of difficulties.
“Do not lose hope,” he said. “Our Redeemer lives, and with faith and determination, a New Nigeria is not just a dream—it is possible.”
