The Emir of Daura, His Royal Highness Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, has openly declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the Daura Emirate’s preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The monarch made this statement on Saturday while receiving Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who led a high-powered delegation of prominent women on a condolence visit to the family home of the late President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.
The First Lady, accompanied by wives of National Assembly leaders, state governors, ministers, service chiefs, and other notable women, offered prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul and for strength and comfort for his widow, Hajia Aisha Buhari, and the rest of the bereaved family.
Senator Tinubu and her delegation also visited the graveside of the former president to pay their respects with a brief prayer session, before proceeding to the residence of Alhaji Mamman Daura, Buhari’s uncle and long-time confidant.
During the visit, the First Lady described the late Buhari as “an accomplished patriot who served with discipline, sacrifice, and dedication to the nation,” noting that his legacy would continue to inspire generations of Nigerians.
In his remarks, Alhaji Mamman Daura expressed gratitude for the visit, which he described as a profound gesture of solidarity and respect for the late president’s family and the Daura community.
The First Lady’s condolence train also stopped at the Emir’s palace, where she extended her sympathies to the Emirate over the loss of one of its most illustrious sons.
In his response, Emir Umar praised President Tinubu’s leadership and assured Senator Tinubu of Daura Emirate’s continued loyalty and political support.
“President Tinubu is our choice for 2027,” the Emir declared emphatically. “We stand firmly behind him and will continue to support his administration to succeed for the good of Nigeria.”
