Zainab Galadima, daughter of prominent New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain Buba Galadima, has warned that President Bola Tinubu may secure as little as 30 percent of votes from the northern region in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on the Mic On podcast hosted by Channels Television journalist Seun Okinbaloye, Zainab painted a bleak picture of Tinubu’s standing in the North, describing the forthcoming election as his most formidable political test yet.

“Honestly, I don’t have good reviews [from northerners about Tinubu]. It’s really bad. Tinubu may get, maybe, 30 percent or less,” she said.

“It’s going to be worse than the 2023 elections. The chances of Tinubu winning in 2027 will face the toughest battle he’s ever seen,” she added.

Zainab, who previously served as a technical assistant on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the office of the vice president during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term, said the emerging opposition alliance—despite its lack of clarity—is a force the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) must not underestimate.

“It’s going to be the toughest because this coalition, as much as I don’t understand what they are doing, but anybody that sees them knows that we need to sit up,” she noted.

Meanwhile, her father, Buba Galadima, also commented on the unfolding opposition realignment, calling it a welcome development for Nigeria’s democracy.

He urged citizens concerned about the country’s direction to throw their support behind the alliance, insisting that it represents a viable alternative given the current political and economic climate.

The coalition, which recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its official platform, has unveiled a new leadership structure and plans to mount a strong challenge against President Tinubu in the next general election.

Key political figures involved in the movement include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi; 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi; and former Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai.
