The Ede Elders Council has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, urging him to use his second term to consolidate his achievements and accelerate development across the state.
The council, known as Igbimo Agbaagba Omo Ilu Ede, said Adeleke’s victory reflected the confidence reposed in his administration by the people of Osun State.
In a congratulatory message signed by its Publicity Director, Chief Dr Ayodele Adeyemo, the elders commended the governor for his efforts in road construction, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare and rural development.
The council, led by its President, Alhaji Sulaimon Ademola Adebayo, urged Adeleke to regard his re-election as a fresh mandate to deepen good governance and improve the living conditions of residents.
It advised the governor to remain focused on accountability, inclusiveness and equitable distribution of development projects and programmes.
The elders also called on political actors and residents across the state to support the administration and work towards maintaining peace and promoting sustainable development.
Adebayo said the council was particularly proud of Adeleke as a son of Ede and expressed optimism that his second term would bring greater transformation to Osun.
“As elders and stakeholders of Ede, we are proud of our son and we rejoice with him on this well-deserved victory. We pray that God will grant him wisdom, good health and the strength to deliver even greater dividends of democracy to the people of Osun State,” he said.
The council also felicitated the Timi of Edeland, Oba Dr Munirudeen Adesola Lawal Laminisa I, on his contributions to the transformation of the ancient city.
It commended the people of Osun State for participating in what it described as a peaceful democratic process and urged citizens to put political differences behind them.
The elders called on residents to join hands with Adeleke in building a peaceful, prosperous and more developed Osun State.
