A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Emmanuel Eboh, has criticised moves to challenge the second-term ambition of Senator Ned Nwoko, describing such efforts as self-serving and counterproductive to the unity of Delta North Senatorial District.

Speaking in Abuja, Eboh said the lawmaker continues to enjoy strong support across the district, popularly known as Anioma, adding that his performance in office has earned him widespread acceptance among constituents.

While acknowledging that contesting for political office is a fundamental right in a democracy, the APC stalwart cautioned against what he described as attempts to personalise politics for narrow interests.

He warned that the growing trend of treating politics as a “family enterprise” could undermine democratic values and fuel unnecessary tension within the district.

Eboh urged residents of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency and the wider Delta North region to reject what he termed “selfish ambitions” that do not reflect the collective interest of the people.

According to him, personality-driven political contests risk creating divisions and distracting from development-focused governance.

He maintained that Senator Nwoko’s record in office justifies calls for his re-election, pointing to interventions in rural infrastructure, electrification, education, water supply, and empowerment programmes.

Eboh also commended the senator’s advocacy for the recognition and identity of the Anioma people, describing it as a significant milestone in the district’s political history.

“Senator Nwoko has not only met expectations but exceeded them,” he said. “He deserves re-election, particularly as the primary responsibility of a senator is to make laws that support good governance.”

The APC chieftain further described Nwoko as a unifying figure whose leadership reflects the aspirations of the Anioma people, urging constituents to remain focused on continuity and stability.

He also called on party members and residents to sustain their support for Sheriff Oborevwori and Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the need for cohesion within the APC and across all levels of government.
