The House of Representatives recorded another round of political defections on Thursday as four lawmakers announced their exit from their respective parties, citing internal crises and unresolved disagreements.
Among the defectors is Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, who dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, formally announced the defections during plenary after reading letters submitted by the affected members.
Also joining the ADC are two lawmakers from Kaduna State - Umar Ajilo and Suleiman Yahaya Richifa - who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a separate development, Kamilu Ado from Kano State defected from the ADC to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Similarly, Joshua Obika, representing the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, also resigned from the APC and joined the NDC.
The lawmakers attributed their defections to persistent factional disputes and uncertainty within their former political parties.
