Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved the appointment of a new Board of Directors for the Abia State Microfinance and SME Bank as part of his administration’s plan to expand access to finance for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the appointments are aimed at repositioning the bank to support inclusive economic growth and drive enterprise development across Abia.
Appointed to lead the board is Mr. Friday Ndubuisi Eluwa as Chairman, while Mr. Isaac Chimereze Okoro will serve as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. Mrs. Nkechi John-Ajuga was named Executive Director.
Other members include Mr. Kings C. Akuma, Mrs. Onyinye Patricia Ralph-Nwachukwu, and Mrs. Hope Chinyere Ubani Ukoma as Non-Executive Directors. Mr. Onwuchekwa Okoronkwo Elendu was appointed Company Secretary and Legal Adviser.
The governor expressed confidence that the board members, with their broad experience and sectoral knowledge, will provide strong leadership and guide the bank in fulfilling its mandate.
He urged them to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the economic aspirations of Abians.
