The House of Representatives has extended the deadline for implementing the capital component of the 2025 budget by three months.
The extension, approved during plenary on Tuesday, moves the deadline from September 30 to December 31, 2025.
The motion for the extension was sponsored by the Majority Leader of the House, Julius Ihonvbere.
Ihonvbere told lawmakers that the capital component of the 2025 Appropriation Act had not been fully implemented, citing prevailing economic difficulties as one of the factors responsible for the delay.
The House subsequently approved the extension to enable the government to complete the implementation of projects and programmes captured under the capital component of the budget.
