An Air Peace cabin crew member has threatened legal action against the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), giving it 72 hours to retract allegations of drug use linked to the July 13 runway incident in Port Harcourt.
Victory Maduneme, accused of testing positive for cannabis, dismissed the claim as “baseless,” saying her tests at a licensed clinic returned negative. “If marijuana was in my system, NSIB would have grounded me immediately. Instead, they stayed silent for months and are now tarnishing my image,” she said.
Co-pilot David Bernard also questioned NSIB’s methods, arguing a breathalyser would have been more reliable than delayed blood and urine tests.
Both crew members accused NSIB of running a smear campaign against Air Peace, warning of immediate lawsuits if the allegations are not withdrawn.
