Dangote meets Canadian PM, seeks stronger Canada-Africa investment ties

President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has held high-level talks with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on strengthening investment partnerships and expanding economic cooperation between Canada and Africa.

The discussions centred on opportunities to boost investment flows between both regions, with particular focus on expanding investments in Canada and exploring the role African businesses can play in supporting the country's economic growth.

According to Dangote Industries, the meeting also examined Canada's Africa Strategy and the need to build stronger two-way trade and investment relationships that would benefit businesses and economies on both continents.

Dangote said there is significant scope for closer collaboration between African and Canadian companies, stressing that stronger commercial partnerships would stimulate industrial development, create employment opportunities and drive innovation.

"Strategic partnerships between Africa and Canada have immense potential to drive sustainable growth and create value for both regions. There is a strong case for increasing investment, fostering innovation, and building mutually beneficial commercial relationships," he said.

During his visit, the Nigerian industrialist also met with Ahmed Hussen, Member of Parliament and Chairman of Canada's Foreign Affairs Committee, to discuss ways of advancing bilateral economic relations.

The meeting with Hussen focused on strengthening trade and investment links between Canada and Africa, while exploring long-term strategic partnerships capable of supporting sustainable economic growth.

Dangote Industries said the engagements reflected a shared determination by both sides to deepen economic cooperation, encourage greater private sector participation and promote inclusive development through stronger Canada-Africa partnerships.
