The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has applauded First Bank of Nigeria Limited following the launch of a cutting-edge Digital Xperience Centre on its campus—a move hailed as a significant boost to digital banking and financial inclusion in the region.
The fully automated centre, which is the first of its kind in the South-East and the sixth in the country, was formally unveiled in a ceremony attended by the university’s top officials and representatives of the bank.
FirstBank’s Managing Director/CEO, Olusegun Alebiosu, said the centre represents the bank’s commitment to reshaping the banking experience by leveraging technology to deliver speed, convenience, and reliability.
“Our goal is to empower the next generation with easy access to banking services through smart, secure, and user-friendly digital solutions,” Alebiosu said. “The centre is designed to meet the needs of young people, especially students, who are digital natives and expect seamless service delivery.”
The Vice-Chancellor of UNN, Professor Oguejiofo Ujam, commended FirstBank for the initiative and reaffirmed the university’s long-standing relationship with the bank.
“FirstBank has always been a reliable partner to this university, and we are pleased to see this new level of engagement,” Ujam said. “The Digital Xperience Centre will make it easier for students and staff to access financial services without the constraints of time or traditional banking hours.”
The facility offers a suite of self-service banking options, including account management, cash withdrawals, and status updates—all available 24/7. Designed with modern aesthetics and functionality, the centre is tailored to appeal to Gen Z and millennial users, offering an inviting space for digital transactions outside of conventional bank settings.
Alebiosu noted that beyond convenience, the project reflects FirstBank’s broader vision of innovation and its role in driving digital transformation in Nigeria’s banking industry.
“This centre shows that we’re not just reacting to change—we’re helping to shape it,” he said. “We are redefining the customer experience and ensuring our services are accessible whenever and wherever they’re needed.”
He added that the bank intends to replicate similar centres in other institutions and urban areas to further expand access to digital financial services.
The partnership is expected to enhance digital literacy and promote financial empowerment among students while reinforcing FirstBank’s leadership in providing future-ready banking solutions.
With the launch of the Digital Xperience Centre at UNN, FirstBank continues its mission to bring banking closer to people through innovation, while also strengthening its ties with Nigeria’s academic institutions.
