The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has approved a new increase in the cost of passport applications, which will take effect from September 1, 2025.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the adjustment affects only applications filed within Nigeria.
Under the revised pricing, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost N100,000, while a 64-page passport with 10-year validity will go for N200,000.
The Service clarified that fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page passport and $230 for the 64-page option.
NIS explained that the increment was necessary to preserve the security features and quality of the Nigerian passport, as well as to enhance service delivery.
This marks the second increase in two years. In August 2024, the Federal Government approved an upward review that saw the 32-page passport rise from N35,000 to N50,000 and the 64-page passport from N70,000 to N100,000, effective September 1, 2024.
The agency assured Nigerians that the review is part of efforts to maintain global standards for the country’s travel documents.
