Bear sentiment persists as stock market closes 0.05% lower

Activities on the floor of Nigerian Stock Exchange on Thursday declined further as the All-Share Index closed 0.05% lower to settle at 105,426.12 compared with 105,475.38 recorded on Wednesday.

The market capitalisation dropped by N31 billion or 0.05% to close at N66.110 trillion from N66.141 trillion recorded in the previous session.

Aggregate volume and value of traded stocks settled at 432.6 billion units and 9 billion in 11,393 deals. 

Market Breadth

Market Breadth closed negative as 22 stocks gained against 28 stocks that declined in their share prices at the end of the day’s trading

Percentage Gainers


THE INITIATES Plc led the gainers chart with 9.85% growth to close at N4.46 from the previous close of N4.06.

Mutual Benefits, Universal Insurance, and Royal Exchange also made it to the green table, gaining 9.09%, 9.09% and 8.99% respectively.

Percentage Losers


JOHNHOLT tops the price decliners’ list, shedding 10.00% of its share price to close at N7.74 from N8.60.

CHAMS, Secure Electronic Technology and May & Baker, shed 8.52%, 8.47% and 7.95% respectively, ahead of other price decliners.

Volume Drivers

ACCESSCORP traded about 65 million units of its shares in 770 deals, valued at about N1.4 billion.

Zenith Bank traded about 42 million units of its shares in 1,085 deals, valued at about N1.97 billion.

Fidelity Bank traded about 41 million units of its shares in 557 deals, valued at about N773 million.
