Dangote Cement Plc has announced plans to engage investors in London on September 21 as part of its preparations for a proposed secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange.

The company disclosed this in a corporate filing with the Nigerian Exchange Limited on Wednesday, signed by its Company Secretary, Edward Imoedemhe.

The event, tagged Capital Markets Day, is expected to give investors and other stakeholders an opportunity to hear directly from the company’s management about its strategy, operations and business priorities.

“The CMD will provide investors and other stakeholders with an update on the Company’s strategy, operations and business priorities, as well as an opportunity to engage with the Company’s senior management,” the company said.

Dangote Cement said additional information on the event, including the agenda and logistical arrangements, would be released later.

It added that presentation materials from the meeting would be made available to the market in line with relevant disclosure requirements.

The London event comes against the backdrop of renewed efforts by the cement producer to secure a secondary listing on the LSE.

Earlier this year, Aliko Dangote, founder and President of Dangote Group, announced that the company had revived its plans to list Dangote Cement in London, about eight years after an earlier attempt was unsuccessful.

The proposed listing is expected to involve approximately 10 per cent of Dangote Cement’s shares.

The planned secondary listing is expected to expand the company’s exposure to international investors and deepen its access to global capital markets, while maintaining its existing listing on the Nigerian Exchange.

The Capital Markets Day will therefore provide an opportunity for Dangote Cement to present its business outlook and strategic priorities to the international investment community ahead of the proposed transaction.

The company said further details on the September 21 event would be communicated in due course.
