Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing a competent leadership team to steer the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) towards reform and progress.

Speaking after a visit to the president, Dangote applauded the appointments of Bashir Bayo Ojulari as Group Chief Executive Officer and Ahmadu Musa Kida as Non-Executive Chairman, saying the duo possesses the technical know-how and leadership skills needed to reposition the NNPCL.

According to Dangote, the appointments reflect President Tinubu’s determination to strengthen the oil and gas sector and accelerate economic growth.

“This new management team is capable, reform-minded, and aligned with the president’s vision for a $1 trillion economy. Their expertise will be crucial in tackling systemic challenges in the sector,” he said.

Dangote also addressed recent reports linking his battle against oil sector cabals to the NNPCL. He clarified that his fight is not against the current leadership of the company but rather against powerful interest groups within the downstream sector trying to derail reforms.

“The new NNPCL team has been supportive of our refinery’s goals. The cabals I mentioned are major oil marketers and traders resisting change and undermining efforts to stabilise the economy,” he explained.

He highlighted the structural changes already taking place within the NNPCL as evidence of a new era focused on transparency, accountability, and results.

“There is a clear reform agenda now, and the calibre of people in charge inspires confidence,” he added.

Dangote reaffirmed his company’s commitment to working with the government and the NNPCL to achieve energy security and drive Nigeria’s industrial development.
