The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) has released the official programme for the 10th edition of the Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC), set for 10–12 February 2026 at the Eko Convention Center, Lagos.

The anniversary edition, announced in a statement by Aziza Albou of AZ Media PR, will be held in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), NNPC Ltd, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), AOS Orwell, and more than 30 national oil companies and regulators from across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Since its inception in 2017 as the West Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (WAIPEC), SAIPEC has grown into a major continental platform. In 2025, the event attracted over 1,400 delegates and 23 national oil companies, with exhibition participation rising from 35 companies in its debut year to more than 150 expected in 2026.

“From a regional platform to a continental force, SAIPEC has become Africa’s leading forum for oil, gas, and energy dialogue,” said PETAN/SAIPEC Conference Chairman Ibe Chubby Ibe. “The 10th anniversary will not only celebrate our achievements but also set the stage for the next decade of collaboration, investment, and African content leadership.”

Conference highlights

The first day will feature keynote addresses from senior government and industry leaders, a regulatory panel on investment frameworks, and country spotlight sessions showcasing upstream and midstream projects in Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Namibia, Senegal, and Mozambique.

Day two will focus on Africa’s gas potential as a driver of industrialisation, exploring domestic supply infrastructure, LNG export prospects, and regional collaboration. The programme will also include panels on local content and capacity building, culminating in the 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner and SAIPEC Awards.

The final day will highlight workforce development, diversity, and youth engagement, including the SPE Futures Forum for young engineers, academics, and entrepreneurs. The conference will close with a presentation of key policy insights and actionable outcomes for Africa’s energy future.

New features for 2026

SAIPEC 2026 introduces in-country roundtables, a Local Content Pitching Session, and an expanded technical conference covering engineering, project execution, and energy technology trends. In a pre-event session, NCDMB will host the Local Content – AfCFTA Energy Summit on 9 February, focusing on intra-African energy trade and boosting local content participation.

Organisers said SAIPEC 2026 would continue to serve as a premier platform for investment deals, knowledge exchange, and capacity building across Africa’s energy sector.
