Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, husband of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has passed away at the age of 62.
The Adeosun family announced his death in a statement released on Thursday, disclosing that he died in Lagos on Wednesday.
The statement, signed by C. A. Adeosun on behalf of the family, described the late Anthony Adeosun, popularly known as Niyi, as a devoted family man.
He is survived by his wife, children and siblings, including Adewale Adeosun, founder of Kuramo Capital.
The family said details of his funeral and Christian burial arrangements would be announced in due course.
While mourning his passing, the family drew comfort from the Christian faith, quoting Revelation 14:13.
"Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in the assurance of God's Word: 'Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord... that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them,'" the statement said.
The family also appealed for privacy as it grieves.
"We request privacy during this difficult period as we mourn our irreplaceable loss. Details of the funeral and Christian burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.
"We sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out with prayers, condolences and support," the statement added.
Kemi Adeosun served as Nigeria's Minister of Finance between 2015 and 2018 during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
