President Bola Tinubu has condoled with the families of victims and institutions affected by Tuesday’s Afriland Towers fire in Lagos, which has now claimed 10 lives.

The inferno, which broke out in the inverter room of the Broad Street high-rise, left four Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) officials and six United Capital Plc staff dead. Several others were rescued, with some still receiving treatment.

In a statement by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu extended sympathy to the management of FIRS, United Bank for Africa (UBA), United Capital, and Afriland Properties Limited, managers of the building.

He prayed for the repose of the deceased and urged greater vigilance to prevent similar disasters, while commending firefighters, medical teams, and first responders for their efforts.

Afriland Towers’ fire was one of two incidents that struck Lagos Island on Tuesday, causing panic and heavy losses.
