The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has suspended access to the 2025 WASSCE results for school candidates following the discovery of technical errors linked to a new security measure introduced to tackle exam malpractice.
In a statement on Thursday, the Council said the problem was identified during a post-release audit and involved subjects where paper serialisation had been applied — including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.
“The innovation was part of our continued efforts to discourage cheating during examinations,” said Moyosola Adesina, WAEC’s Acting Head of Public Affairs. “However, following the release of results, our review revealed technical issues affecting the processing of these subjects.”
To ensure fairness and integrity, the Council said it took the decision to temporarily disable access to results on its portal while corrections are made.
“As a professional organisation committed to transparency and accuracy, we are urgently addressing the glitch,” the statement noted.
WAEC apologised to candidates and advised them to check back after 24 hours, assuring them that the issue would be resolved promptly.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of all stakeholders as we work to restore full access to the results,” Adesina added.
