The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has begun lectures at Northwest University, Kano, after securing admission as a 200-level student in the institution’s Law programme.
The monarch was spotted in class on Tuesday alongside other students, dressed in a black flowing robe and white turban.
His admission into the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in Common and Sharia Law was granted by the university in recognition of his extensive experience in governance, economics and public service.
Northwest University, established in 2012, is one of the two universities owned by the Kano State Government.
Sanusi, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and a PhD holder, has remained a strong advocate of education and social reform. His return to formal academic study highlights his commitment to lifelong learning and sustained intellectual engagement in Nigeria’s public sphere.
