The Lagos State Taskforce has arrested 277 suspects in a week-long clampdown on notorious criminal hideouts across the state.
The raids, prompted by intelligence reports and residents’ complaints, were led by Taskforce Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, and targeted areas known for illegal activity and makeshift settlements.
According to a statement released Sunday by Taskforce spokesperson Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the operations began daily at around 1:30 a.m., covering locations on both the Island and Mainland, including Victoria Island, Osborne Road, Chevron axis, Lekki Roundabouts, Obalende, Ikota, Ikoyi, Falomo Bridge, Lagos Law School, Eko Hotel, Oniru Beach, Agege railway tracks, Isale Oja in Ketu, and the AP Roundabout.
Akerele said the raids were part of efforts to reclaim public spaces and restore order across Lagos.
“These individuals have been disturbing the peace and endangering residents. This operation makes it clear that Lagos will not be a refuge for lawlessness,” he said.
He added that all 277 suspects have been prosecuted under existing state laws.
Reaffirming the agency’s commitment to public safety, Akerele warned that anyone seeking to disrupt peace in the state would be dealt with decisively.
“We remain committed to delivering a safer, cleaner Lagos for all,” he said.
