An 'offensive' banner displayed at the entrance of the Lekki Central Mosque that led to an outrage among Christians on social media, has been removed.
The banner, which went viral on Wednesday, bore the inscription: “Jesus Christ is not God. He is a Prophet and Messenger of God!”
The banner caused social media storm with many Christians describing it as offensive, prompting its removal.
As at Wednesday night a member of the Lekki Muslim community, in a video, confirmed that it has been removed.
The man who identified himself as Tunde Alabi said he came personally to confirm the removal after he sent a message to the mosque committee was told it has been removed.
He said, “I’m a member of Lekki Muslim community. I noticed there was a banner in front of our mosque which was causing some controversy. I sent a message to the mosque committee and I was told it has been removed, so I came here personally to check and I can confirm that it has actually been removed.”
He went ahead to personally apologise for any inconvenience it may have caused.
