"Die Young" crooner, Oladips, dies young, dogged by another Label fight

 FEAR has gripped the entire Nigerian music industry and its practitioners following the deaths, in quick successions, of two promising artistes.

Oladipupo Oladimeji (Oladips) 28, is the latest after the controversial death of Mohbad, also 28, barely two months ago. Again like Mohbad, his death is being dogged by Record label controversy.

According to reports, Oladips, whose musical career was boosted after winning the "King is Here" contest organized by D'banj, died two days ago on November 14, almost mysteriously, just like Mohbad's.

The budding rapper, song writer and performing artiste, originally joined the music industry 12 years ago and could be remembered for his songs like 'Ajala', 'Mainland 2 Island", "Lalakulala" and the controversial "Die Young".

Although the full detail of his untimely death is still shrouded in secrecy, industry watchers and colleagues see the death as taking the same pattern as those of his late colleagues, Dagrin and most recently, Mohbad, who's still being mourned.

The hardworking founder of "Disciples Music", his latest album, "Superhero Omo Adugbo" was scheduled for release two days after his death! 

According to his streaming platform, Apple Music, the 17-track album features late Dagrin's brother, TOD, the late Mohbad and a host of the living!

Born on March 24, 1995, in Ogun State, Nigeria, Oladips exhibited a passion for music from a young age, laying the foundation for a promising career. At sixteen, he embarked on a musical odyssey, rising from text battles on Facebook to establishing himself as a formidable force in the rap scene.

A pivotal moment in Oladips’ career was his victory at the “King is Here” contest, hosted by Nigerian musician D’banj. This success catapulted him into the spotlight, securing his first major record contract with EDGE Records.

His journey, marked by resilience and talent, showcased Oladips’ ability to connect with audiences, blending his unique style with mainstream influences.

Notable was his rendition of a Drake a bynd Trey Songz song, displaying versatility and depth.

In a surprising turn in 2019, Oladips parted ways with EDGE Records, citing contract violations and dissatisfaction with Reminisce, the label’s CEO.
