Reactions have continued to trail the answer given by Nollywood veteran, multiple awards winner and star of many movies, Patience Ozokwor.
The respected actress, in a recent statement, had stated that movie players seek for help when they are n with sickness because they live expensive lifestyle in active years of work because "their career demands them to indulge in such flamboyant and star status, which makes it difficult for them to save enough money."
She continued that, "there is an intense financial pressure on actors, from family and acquaintances, who assume they are extremely rich because they appear on television."
Many people are still reacting to her explanations but argue that Nigerian actors live above their means, because some of them have any advertise themselves as doing well.
"Any right thinking actor ought to know that he's not in regular employment and uses his earnings judiciously...
"But after all said and done, they still want to live big, with flashy cars, flat or duplex, women, parties etc, even when he's not sure of the next job...
"The end result is that when necessity call, he's left with nothing and resorts to begging. There are other professionals, who don't earn regular salary and they still survive," one of the Frontline producers said under anonymity.
There have been series of questions on whether our actors are handsomely paid as they pretend to be.
"It is not a question of being well paid or not. We are well paid but when tragedy comes, it is difficult to handle it alone since the actor stops work automatically and nobody pays you anymore."
Evan Oke, a movie critic blamed the actors for trying to live above their means. "They're always in a hurry to wear expensive cloth, ride expensive car, live in mansions and have beautiful women. The result is that if there's any emergency, they resort to begging."
