Nollywood A-list hitman and widely travelled actor, Hanks Anuku, has refuted the widely held view that he is a drug addict, insisting that he doesn't do drugs but only drinks alcohol.
"I only drink to avoid depression. I don't take hard drugs," he squealed.
He picked on the country's harsh economy and its effect as being responsible for that.
The once dreaded actor noted for his tough roles, who has been in the news of recent with different videos on his Instagram page about his current state of affairs, admitted to drinking heavily which he claimed was to avert depression
"That is what actually makes me drink but I don't take hard drugs at all. I didn't have a job for years. I have been thinking about my children, school fees and welfare," he confessed.
Anuku, who recently appreciated his son as he showed family pictures, added: "You all should please give my son a follow and like. He really helped me to get myself together. I thank God for him and my daughter."
However, he did not reveal if his appeal for assistance from the public has yielded any dividend.
Recently, he joined the rank of Nollywood star, who have fallen on bad patch and sought for public help.
Another top player in the Nigerian movie industry, Mr. Hanks Anuku has joined the list of others, who are seriously challenged and begging for assistance.
Although he doesn't seem to be facing any major health problem like the others, the once dreaded but respected star was first sighted loitering at a filling station from where he released a statement calling for help.
This coming in the wake of controversy surrounding Mr. John Okafor, alias Mr. Ibu, Another top player in the Nigerian movie industry, Mr. Hanks Anuku has joined the list of others, who are seriously challenged and begging for assistance.

This was coming in the wake of controversy surrounding Mr. John Okafor, alias Mr. Ibu, who recently lost a leg to amputation because of delay in attending to the ailment due to lack of money, and had be rescued through public donations, particularly by former senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki. Nigerians are beginning to question the lifestyle of some of these artistes and stars, and some even wonder if this is another con game in town, as Nigerians can do anything for money.
Hank explained that he's a veteran, who has had no job no job for years and, therefore, called for help.
"I am calling on my fans and friends in the industry and the Delta state governor, to come to my rescue because I have dependants and pressing issues bordering me.
Hanks Anuku, who used to be one of the 'big boys' in Nollywood a couple of years back, is also widely travelled.
He was a star of many movies too and is, however, noy the only actor, who is soliciting for help on health grounds
He said, “I have worked for this country. I have attained the height of being a legend. But I’ve had no job for, God knows, how many years. And I expect that Nigerians will also know that I did it all for them.
“I just gonna ask Governor Sheriff [Oborevwori] to please send support to me. And my fans, who truly love and appreciate the works I’ve done for them, if you think you truly love me, may God help you all to help me.”
