Ned Nwoko insists he married Regina Daniels at 21, not 17

Senator Ned Nwoko has refuted claims by his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, that he married her at the age of 17, calling the allegation “false, misleading, and malicious.”

In a statement shared on Facebook on Thursday, Nwoko said the claim was part of an orchestrated effort to damage his reputation amid their ongoing marital dispute.

“These claims are entirely untrue and misleading,” he said.

Nwoko explained that Daniels told him she was 21 when they first met and provided her INEC voter’s card as proof, which shows her date of birth as October 10, 1998.

“I asked for verification of her age, and she presented her voter’s card, which I have kept since that day. I have also seen a BBC interview her mother gave after our marriage confirming her age,” he added.

According to Nwoko, their marriage took place six years ago, meaning Daniels is 27 years old today.

“Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted by the public,” he stated.

The senator also claimed that Daniels’ recent statements were influenced by her mental health challenges, alleging she began but did not complete a rehabilitation program for drug addiction.

“The facts are verifiable and indisputable. Until this is done, I urge the public to treat all her claims with caution,” Nwoko said.

His statement adds another chapter to the highly publicised marital dispute between the lawmaker and the Nollywood actress.
