Fresh crisis may be brewing in the home of recuperating Nollywood star, John Okafor after the surgery that saw one his legs amputated.
A report just released indicates that Mr. Ibu's wife, Stella Maris ordered the arrest of his adopted daughter, Jasmine, and son over missing N300m from the money donated for his treatment.
According to the report through the Instagram page of Dorris K, the suspects are currently being detained at Alagbon Close, Ikoyi Lagos. They were alleged to have removed the money from the ailing actor's bank account.
However, unconfirmed report has it that the allegations may be false since the amount donated so far is less than N300m.
Controversy has trailed the state of affairs generally in Mr. Ibu's domain since he got sick. His wife, Stella, too is being accused of wanting part of the largesse, while the adopted daughter and sons are also to have a share of the family cake.
Mrs. Stella had a few ago alleged that Jasmine, his adopted daughter, hijacked the money donated by well meaning Nigerians.
Stella, in her Instagram account, revealed, while reacting to some accusations, denied the rumour that she requested for money from the husband's upkeep to buy a car. She accused Jasmine of being the rumour merchant and stated that she does not have access to her husband's main account.
According to her, "there have been some malicious lies being peddled against me on social media by Jasmine, who wants to make me an outsider in my own house which God will not allow"
She said that her husband's health is more important to her than anything.
"The one million naira, which they said was paid into my account, was on my husband's instruction to offset some bills at the home front".
She stated further that she does not have access to her husband's main account, where people make donations. She accused Jasmine of being in control of the account and yet she is cooking up all sorts of lies against her.
However, in a new development, Daniel Okafor, second son to the embattled actor, has debunked the claims by the actor's wife that Jasmine hijacked the bank account, saying that he is the one in charge of the bank account.
When contacted, Jasmine stated that she does not want to be involved with the online drama yet. "I am more concerned with daddy's wellbeing" she said.
John Okafor who has had one of his legs amputated in one of the private hospitals in Lagos had received donations from former Senate President, Dr. Olusola Saraki and a host of other Nigerians to commence the treatment and already has one of his legs amputated.
