Controversial activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has fired back at the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the party gave him a seven-day ultimatum to apologize for condemning Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s recent trip to the Vatican for the Pope’s funeral.
The APC had earlier demanded a retraction from VDM, accusing him of defamation after he described Akpabio’s foreign trip as "shameful" amid Nigeria’s worsening security and humanitarian crises.
In a strongly worded video response, VDM refused to apologize and instead lashed out at the nation’s political leaders, calling them “irresponsible” and accusing them of neglecting citizens being killed in states like Benue, Jos, Enugu, Ogun, and Edo.
“First of all, I want to apologize—not to APC, but to the victims of herdsmen attacks in Benue, Jos, Kwara, Enugu, Ogun, and Edo,” he said. “Since these irresponsible leaders won’t apologize, I’ll do it on their behalf.”
He slammed the ruling elite for attending foreign events while ignoring mass killings at home. “People are dying in their farmlands, and you’re flying abroad for a funeral of someone who didn’t even know you,” VDM said.
Turning the ultimatum back on the APC, VDM issued his own seven-day deadline, challenging the government to clamp down on ongoing herdsmen attacks across the country.
“You give me seven days? I give you seven days to end the killings,” he declared.
VDM also took aim at The Punch newspaper, warning the media outlet over its report labeling him as “notorious for blackmail, slander, and character assassination.” He accused the publication of bias and threatened legal action if it continued to defame him.
