Manchester City have announced Enzo Maresca as the club’s new head coach, with the Italian tactician signing a long-term contract until June 2029.
The appointment marks the beginning of a fresh chapter at the Etihad Stadium following the departure of Pep Guardiola after his successful spell with the Premier League champions.
Maresca, 45, will immediately take charge of first-team activities and is also expected to play a major role in shaping the club’s transfer business ahead of the new season.
The Italian coach is familiar with the Manchester City setup, having previously worked under Guardiola during the club’s treble-winning campaign as part of the backroom staff.
Club officials are understood to view Maresca as a natural successor capable of preserving the possession-based football philosophy and tactical identity established during Guardiola’s reign.
Known for his emphasis on structured build-up play and technical discipline, Maresca has steadily emerged as one of the most highly rated young coaches in European football.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement on Tuesday, revealing that all paperwork had been completed.
According to Romano, the former City assistant has already signed his contract and will be fully integrated into the club’s recruitment and squad-planning process.
Manchester City are expected to formally unveil Maresca soon, while announcements regarding his coaching staff and pre-season plans are also anticipated in the coming days.
