Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, have named their final squad for the Men’s AfroBasket Championship, scheduled for August 12–24 in Angola, as they chase a second continental title, 10 years after their historic 2015 triumph.

Drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Madagascar and Cameroon, D’Tigers will open their campaign against Madagascar on August 13.

Following weeks of intense preparations, head coach Mohammed Abdulrahman trimmed the squad, dropping Fola Fayemi, Kareem Joseph and Mohamed AbdulSalam, while big man Peter Olisemeka was ruled ineligible.

NBA guard Josh Okogie headlines the 12-man roster, joined by experienced returnees Talib Zanna, Ike Nwamu, Stan Okoye and Caleb Agada. Rising stars Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, Mike Nuga, Devine Eke, Christian Mekowulu, Martins Igbanu, Ugo Andrew Simon and Emmanuel Omogbo complete the line-up.

The 2025 edition will be the 31st staging of AfroBasket since its inception in 1962. Angola remain the most successful nation with 11 titles, while Tunisia, the reigning champions, will defend their crown among the 16 teams competing for the trophy.

D’Tigers will be aiming to replicate the success of Nigeria’s women’s team, D’Tigress, who currently hold the African championship title.
