Victor Osimhen, Napoli forward, has been ruled out of the Super Eagles forthcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and the Benin Republic.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in a post on its X account on Tuesday, announced that the 25-year-old will miss the encounters after suffering an injury.

NFF said the striker will be out for four weeks, and Kenneth Igboke, Enugu Rangers’ left-back, has been called up as a replacement.

The Super Eagles will play South Africa at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on June 7 before flying to Abidjan to tackle Benin Republic at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny three days later.

On May 24, George Finidi, the team’s head coach, released a 23-man squad for the games.

Maduka Okoye returned after a lengthy hiatus from the team. He last played for the Eagles in the 1-0 loss to Tunisia in the second round of the AFCON held in Cameroon in 2022.

While Remo Stars’ Sadiq Ismael got his first call-up as the only out-field home-based player in the team.
