The Abia State Government has appointed Coach Deutsch Detchoua Gustave Emmanuel as the new Head Coach of Enyimba International Football Club, Aba.
The appointment was approved by Governor Alex Otti as part of ongoing efforts to revive the fortunes of the nine-time Nigerian league champions and restore the club’s reputation on the continental stage.
Enyimba, Nigeria’s most successful football club and a two-time CAF Champions League winner, has in recent years fallen short of its historic standards. The Otti administration said it is committed to repositioning the club through improved technical leadership, professionalism and sustainable management practices.
Coach Deutsch Detchoua brings extensive experience to the role, holding CAF A, B and C coaching licences. He has previously worked with several clubs in Nigeria and Cameroon, serving as both Technical Adviser and Head Coach, and is credited with strong performances wherever he has worked.
His credentials include being named Nigeria National League Best Coach in 2025, a recognition that highlights his tactical acumen and leadership qualities.
The state government expressed confidence that his appointment would strengthen Enyimba’s technical structure, enhance competitiveness, and lay a solid foundation for long-term success.
Officials said the new coach is expected to play a central role in returning the Aba giants to the top of Nigerian football and re-establishing them as a formidable force in African competitions.
