Osimhen doubtful for South Africa clash with abdominal discomfort

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen may miss Nigeria's semifinal clash with South Africa at the ongoing Africa Nations Cup on Ivory Coast.

Osimhen showed visible signs of exhaustion, and was substituted with Paul Onuachu in the later minutes of Super Eagles match against Angola on Friday.

A statement via the Super Eagles X account @NGSuperEagles said on Monday that the striker did not travel with the rest of the team to Buake ahead of Wednesday's encounter with South Africa due to stomach discomfort.

The statement said However, that he is under close watch and may join the rest of the squad if certified fit.

"Members of the team traveled from Abidjan to Bouaké today via a 10pm Air Cote D'Ivoire flight. Osimhen did not however make the trip as a result of an abdominal discomfort," the statement said 

"Team medics confirmed that he has been placed under close watch with a member of the medical team staying behind in Abidjan with him. If cleared by tomorrow morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5pm."
